Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has a lot of unique character designs, but these are the best.

Throughout your journey in the world of Aionios in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you’ll meet and get to know lots of characters, whether they’re Kevesi, Agnian, Nopon, or from the City. Monolith Soft paid close attention to detail when designing these characters, ensuring that their designs reflect their personal allegiance and character traits.

Each character in the game looks as though they belong in the world, but they’re still distinct from one another, with the designers going so far as to make lots of unique designs for main characters, Heroes, and other NPCs. The character designs are one of the strongest parts of the game, helping to bring the world of Aionios to life.

This article contains spoilers for Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Despite his dark past, Teach turned over a new leaf and became a teaching figure for those in Colony Gamma. Teach’s character design represents his scholarly position, especially his long, regal waistcoat. Intricately designed, Teach’s entire outfit shows his high status as the colony’s Commander.

While Teach is in his tenth term like Mio, his teacherly status makes him look wiser than his terms. Teach’s blue skin and pointed ears, qualities of the Indoline people from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, set him apart from many other notable characters too, almost giving him a vampiric appearance when paired with his formal attire.

Sena makes up one-third of the Agnian side of the party, whose ability to wield her gigantic hammer is a surprise to many of the people she meets because of her small stature. Her sporty outfit shows off her love for all things training and her dedication to improving her strength.

Sena’s outfit also reveals her Blade features, including the glowing blue lines that go down her torso and match the tips of her hair. Sena arguably has the most unique hairstyle out of the main party, with the ends of it looking exactly like blue flames.

Valdi is the commander of Colony 30; however, he prefers to spend his time creating and fixing Levnises rather than seeing to his commander duties. His design fits his profession as a mechanic as he wears goggles on his head to protect his eyes when tinkering with machinery, and carries a screwdriver-shaped weapon.

When you first see Valdi, you immediately recognize the type of character he’s going to be, due in part to his thematic design that shows off his youthfulness and love for all things mechanical.

Gray is a lone wolf character hailing from the City who’s not one for talking and prefers to journey alone, a fact that’s reflected in his mysterious character design. Showing the many battles and missions he’s been through, Gray wears a ragged cape that’s torn to shreds at the bottom.

Gray likes to keep his identity secret, so he covers his face with a mask, bandana, and the City’s signature eyepatch. In his Ascension Quest, Gray reveals his face to you after some persuasion from his wife, showing the facial hair he’s sporting beneath.

A member of the Lost Numbers, Ghondor has a spirited personality and isn’t afraid to speak her mind, often butting heads with her mother, Monica. Ghondor’s Hero Class is titled “Martial Artist”, a fighting style that’s incorporated into both Ghondor’s outfit and her weapon.

Her outfit is reminiscent of that worn by martial artists, such as the traditional black belt and white pants. Ghondor’s mechanical boxing gloves put a spin on the classic design, and are sure to pack more of a punch when she uses them in battle.

Making up one half of the Yumsmith class alongside Riku, Manana is a Nopon who followed Agnian soldiers onto the battlefield to cook food for them, and is one of the most unique looking Nopon in the game. Despite having little battle training, Manana is able to use her cooking pot lid as a shield to help the party in battle.

Manana’s character design displays her love for the culinary arts as her clothing resembles a chef’s uniform, including a chef’s jacket, hat, and neckerchief. Her peachy orange fur looks just as sweet as her personality, too.

The commander of Colony Tau, Juniper is one of the heroes you recruit through the main story. They wield the Luminescent Bow and give you the Stalker class when they join the party. Juniper’s character design reflects their archer status, as their clothes and armor match their bow.

Juniper’s forest green hair color also complements the rest of their appearance, as it contrasts with the burnt orange shades in their outfit. They have turned-down cat ears too, decorated with hair accessories to bring the whole look together. The free-spirited nature of their design captures their personality well, as it’s different from the traditional Agnian uniform, similar to how Colony Tau operates differently from other Agnian colonies.

Colony Mu’s commander, Fiona deals with plenty of heartbreak in her Hero Quest; despite this, she manages to remain positive and leads her colony with compassion. Fiona’s outfit is a cross between a school uniform and a sailor outfit, displaying how she’s one of the youngest commanders, in only her fifth term.

Fiona keeps her lavender-colored hair pulled back in a bun, using a long green ribbon to tie it up, adding another layer of charm to her already cute outfit. The best part of Fiona’s character design is definitely the red horns that peek out from her fringe, similar to that of an Oni - although Fiona is anything but devilish.

From Noah’s character design, it’s clear that he’s the main character, but it’s also distinct from the previous protagonists in the series, Shulk and Rex. His character design uses a lot of red, which matches his Blade, the Veiled Sword, tying both his outfit and weapon together.

It’s evident Monolith Soft spent a lot of time ensuring that this design encapsulates Noah’s personality, as it’s not too over the top, reflecting his often serious attitude. Noah also joins the likes of other long-haired protagonists, such as Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia and Fei Fong Wong from Xenogears, wearing his hair neatly in a ponytail.

Originally an Agnian soldier, Mio meets Noah, Lanz, and Eunie and becomes Ouroboros in a twist of fate. When you first meet Mio, she’s dressed in the Agnian military uniform; however, after defecting from her duty, Mio swaps out this look for a more laidback jacket, shirt, and skirt combo.

At a certain point in the game, you can choose whether to give Mio short or long hair, giving you the option to customize her character further. Mio’s character design also gets bonus points for having cat ears, a trait that elevates her already well-thought-out look.
