The MLB unveiled its fourth City Connect uniform of 2022 when the Colorado Rockies showed off their mountain-themed jerseys and hats on Friday morning.

In addition to the Rockies’ threads, the Washington Nationals, Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals also wore their new City Connect jerseys earlier this season. The Los Angeles Angels, Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres will reveal theirs before the season ends.

The Colorado Rockies unveiled their City Connect jerseys on Friday

Yeah, they’re not great.

Apparently a nod to the “iconic” Colorado license plates, these jerseys are fun to look at for a few seconds, but quickly become a mess. The blends of purples, greens and reds are confusing. Multi-colored team schemes can be good, but if Colorado was going to base it off a state icon, why not use their sweet flag? This is what the New Jersey Devils did when they were based in Colorado, and those jerseys were some of the best in the league.

If you told me that the Royals’ City Connect logo was a Sporting KC rebrand, I would not be surprised at all.

They have a soccer-esque look to them. They definitely scream “middle of the pack,” especially for a funky series like City Connect. Get a little creative. This is especially disappointing given the Royals’ history of having the best alternate jerseys out there. Seriously, Kansas City, I know you still have that jersey, but bring it back with the powder blue hats too.

These uniforms were almost No. 4 on this list.

I’m not keen on the “Space City” look because I thought the Astros, who have one of the coolest jersey histories in the league, could have done much better. But those hats –– those beautiful, orbiting hats –– launch it up to No. 2. Pair that hat with a modern twist on these jerseys and you’ve got something special.

These are exactly what I’m looking for in a City Connect jersey.

I need something that’s a perfect blend of wacky, yet satisfying to look at. And everytime I watch a Nationals game and they wear these, I can’t stop staring at them. The gray background, cherry blossoms and National-Mall-esque font is so D.C. The Nationals crushed it here.
