The family of a Rugby scientist who has gone missing in Chile say they are 'deeply concerned' about him. Professor Tom Marsh had visited the South American country for work - but no-one has heard from him in six days.

BirminghamLive has reported that Warwickshire Police are liaising with the Foreign Office and Interpol to try to find Mr Marsh, who works within the Department of Physics at Warwick University. While the hunt for him goes on, specialist officers are supporting the 60-year-old's family, who are desperate for him to return home safely.

They released a statement, which read: "We are deeply concerned for Tom and miss him. [We] would ask anyone who may have any information on his whereabouts to please help.”

He was last spoken to on Friday night (September 16).

"He is described as white, approximately 6’3” in height, with balding grey hair and a beard. He is likely to be wearing a blue rain jacket, walking boots and a grey woollen hat.

"Officers from Warwickshire Police are in contact with the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Interpol, as well as Chilean authorities."
