Very sad news out of South Carolina as a woman has died after being struck by a beach umbrella. The incident happened in Garden City Wednesday afternoon. The woman, Tammy Perault was taken to the hospital and died from her injuries a short time later. ABC15 News reports that the umbrella was picked up by the wind which caused it to hit Perault. It seems that she was a local in the Garden City community as a heartfelt Facebook message was posted by a local beach bar in her memory.

Today with heavy hearts we mourn the loss of a dear friend and kind hearted local, Tammy Perreault. Some things we will...

I’ve never liked beach umbrellas and thought they were more of a hassle than their worth. But I never thought they could accidentally be deadly. RIP to this woman and keep her family and friends in your prayers as they suffer through this unexpected loss.

Craving the perfect weekend getaway? What I wouldn’t give for a relaxing weekend. Travel & Leisure recently ranked their Top 10 South Carolina Resort Hotels. All ten of these are the epitome of luxury and relaxation. The list was based on reader votes in the publication’s World’s Best Awards. The hotels were rated on facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. South Carolina has miles of coastline so it’s no surprise that the vast majority of hotels included are waterfront. Nine of ten are located on the water to be exact.

Hilton Head was the leader with five of the ten hotels located on the island. Other locations represented include Kiawah and Bluffton. Whether you are traveling with the family or just a relaxing adults-only getaway you’ll be sure to enjoy these resorts. They feature all the amenities you could hope for with golf, spas, beaches, restaurants, and more. All of these reasons keep visitors coming back year after year to enjoy the South Carolina Lowcountry.

There are so many spots I’d love to travel to, though looking at photos of these gorgeous resorts may have catapulted several of them to the top of my list. Have you stayed at any of them? Which is your favorite?
