A Toronto Blue Jays cap featuring the American flag is being called a "snafu" by maker New Era.

The Toronto Blue Jays won't be wearing a baseball cap that features elements of the U.S. flag.

Every year Major League Baseball teams wear patriotic caps in honor of the 4th of July, America's Independence Day, all but the Blue Jays for obvious reasons. Of the 30 MLB teams, the Blue Jays are the only team housed north of the border in Canada.

But earlier this week the 2022 Stars and Stripes Collection was released and the caps displayed the two-time World Series Champions' logo with the same patriotic cap as their American counterparts.

A Toronto Blue Jays baseball cap featuring the American flag is being called a 'snafu' be maker New Era.

New Era Cap Company which produces caps for MLB, the NFL and other professional leagues is calling the image of the Blue Jays cap with the stars and stripes of the U.S. flag a "snafu."

"This was a snafu relating to inaccurate images being automatically uploaded. The situation has been corrected," John Mackowiak, a spokesman for New Era said.

The actual cap the Blue Jays will wear features all navy blue stripes with no stars.

This is the actual cap the Toronto Blue Jays will wear during America's Independence Day.

Canada Day, however, is July 1, and the Blue Jays front office said the team will be wearing red uniforms commemorating the country's national day.

But the "snafu" New Era is claiming didn't stop fans from pointing out the error on social media.

Chris Creamer, who operates Sportslogos.net, wrote in part "I’m betting there’s a 0.0% chance the Jays wear this cap..." when he covered the 2022 release of the Stars and Stripes Collection.
