You can always count on Manchester to bring a bit of rain - no matter what the occasion. And the same could be said for the start of Parklife today (June 11).

There were just a few clouds hanging above Heaton Park when doors opened at 11am, but festival-goers were met with the very occasional spit of rain just as the party got underway. With ponchos and umbrella hats already stocked up on, it was merely a shift fashion change and continuing on with the celebrations.

Thankfully, the sun has already made multiple appearances with the weather forecast predicting that the 'mixed bag' of weather could continue throughout the day.

Nevertheless, music fans are ready for a jam-packed day full of acts including 50 Cent, Chase & Status, and Headie One all lined up for the rest of the day.

Other acts on the line-up include Shy FX, Peggy Gou, Purple Disco Machine, and Carl Cox - we've just so conveniently done a rundown of the acts performing on Saturday and Sunday for you to peruse.

Meanwhile, food and drink stalls include Notorious Pig, Toucan Cocktails and Greek Street Food. Spread across a corner of Heaton Park, the festival takes place over eight main stages. There's also a VIP area offering extra DJ sets and stalls for those who fancy a little something extra.

“I’m excited but also extremely nervous - it never gets any easier that’s for sure,” Parklife organiser Sacha Lord told the M.E.N last week ahead of the festivities kicking off. “It’s the starting pistol of the festival season, it coincides with the end of year for students, which is no coincidence, so it’s just one big party, and it’s like ‘here we go, summer’s here.’”
