NEW JERSEY - Pack your umbrellas, New Jersey: this weekend in the Garden State is expected to be a wet one.

Alongside dense fog in coastal counties and zones along the Delaware Bay, thunderstorms, scattered storms and rising temperatures are expected Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters say to plan extra time on the roads due to low visibility from dense fog.

"A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect this morning for our coastal counties, marine zones as well as counties bordering the Delaware Bay," the service said. "Expect visibility down to a quarter of a mile or less in these areas so use extra caution if venturing out!"

The fog should improve through the late morning, but Saturday is slated to stay mostly cloudy and humid throughout the day.

"The visibility will continue to improve during the balance of the morning," the National Weather Service said in a forecast discussion.

Thunderstorms and scattered showers are likely to begin in the early afternoon, the National Weather Service said, with scattered thunderstorms especially likely west of the I-95 corridor. Isolated thunderstorms are more likely closer to the coast. Locally heavy rain and gusty winds are possible.

Temperatures are expected around the 70s, or upper 60s along the Jersey Shore.

Sunday should see mostly clear skies, though chances of lingering afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms remain. Temperatures could rise over 80 degrees in parts of the state, with daytime highs averaging in the 70s.

Saturday: Showers likely before 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., then showers likely after 5 p.m. Areas of fog before 2 p.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 73. Southeast wind around 5 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 59. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
